Digital Imaging Final project: Self portrait

As part of our final for Digital Imaging, we had to create a self portrait. We had set requirements of things we were required to include or tools to use in creating our final piece. I tend to work best from emotion, so that's the direction I went with for the project.

Yes, it's controversial, but it's a big part of what I face often, especially since this pandemic started. More recent than this self portrait, I had someone say to me that I should sacrifice my son for the, "greater good". It makes me reflect of this project, and how I should continue to use my voice in this way. God gave me a gift of being creative, and the more I pray about it, the more I feel I'm supposed to make bold statements such as this- awareness in telling our story.

There will always be people who will disagree with me, but I do expect our journey and choices to be respected.

I was nervous about submitting this for my project, just because of the subject matter. However, the example my teacher showed was pandemic related and she did say we could use it for inspiration. Well, it inspired me and brought out the emotions that I channeled to create this piece. In the end, I made a 98/100 on this project. I was counted off for not grouping more of my layers than I did. Now this class is done, I'm moving on to Digital Imaging II.
